CEO-level protection that legally covers your ass(ets)

As a business owner or service provider of any kind, you likely already know the importance of having correct legal contracts in place – especially if you follow along with my content in any capacity!

This is what I preach everyday of the week and it’s something I’ll continue to do as long as people will listen because it’s truly SO vital to running a business.

Regardless of the industry you’re in, contracts are a huge piece of the puzzle and there’s a right and a wrong way to do them – I dive into that here!

While this is true for ALL business owners, in this blog specifically I want to speak to one type of service provider specifically: calling all social media managers. 📣

Being a social media manager isn’t for the faint of heart! There is a TON of work that goes into that job and you’re constantly thrown challenges with algorithm changes, new platforms to learn, and the ever changing strategy of each platform.

Providing this service requires you to be at the top of your game every single day and it’s something that so many people tend to take for granted.

It’s easy to look at social media managers and think they have it easy – simply create a post and press publish. Simple enough, right? *all social media managers burst into laughter* 😂

As a business owner myself that markets on social media, I know that WAY more goes into it than that, which is why I want to talk to you specifically to make sure you have all of the tools and resources you need to seamlessly run your business – while making the profit that you dang deserve!

Business Contracts for Social Media Managers

As mentioned, having correct legal contracts in place is a key part of ANY business – including your social media management business.

Contracts are there to define your scope of work, client and contractor responsibilities, intellectual property ownership, payment terms, cancellation clauses, communication expectations and more.

Essentially, your contracts define every single detail that a client needs to know once they sign on as your official client.

Without them, you could run into some tricky situations as a business owner that causes you lots of headaches that could easily be avoided.

Beyond having contracts in place, it’s also important that they are continually updated – this is why I encourage all service providers to perform a quarterly contract audit to ensure that your contracts are still serving you properly!

I could go on and on about contracts all day, but instead I’ll simply point you in the direction of finding the ones you need for your business specifically.

At The Boutique Lawyer, we’ve crafted industry specific contracts for social media managers so you can easily grab what you need and trust that you are protecting yourself and your business!

Shop the contracts here and easily implement the legalities of your business that you don’t have time to research on Google – we’ve done the work for you and now all you have to do is plug and play!

Agency Style Resources for Social Media Managers

As a social media manager, contracts are only one piece of the puzzle. They’re an important piece so I don’t want you to skip that step, but beyond contracts there’s a few other things you can put into place to make sure that you’re running your business as seamlessly as possible.

As a social media manager, there’s a lot of work that goes into gaining a client BEFORE they sign on to work with you.

This means that before a contract is ever put in front of a client to sign, there’s typically a process that each potential client goes through to make sure they’re a good fit for your services specifically.

Many times this looks like having a discovery call and developing a proposal based on their specific needs because when it comes to social media needs, almost every business is different.

For example, one person might want help with Instagram only, but they only want you to post on their feed. Another person might want help with Instagram Reels, stories, and static posts. And then another person might be interested in Instagram and TikTok combined.

With these different wants and needs, there are different strategies that come into play for you as the service provider, which means you also have to be strategic on your end so that you give just enough value in your discovery process, but not so much that the person can walk away and implement the plan you’ve created for them.

Once a potential client has gone through your strategic discovery process, then comes the exciting part! Onboarding and making things official.

With social media management services specially, your onboarding process is often very unique and can vary from client to client.

Unlike other service providers, you often need access to certain accounts and other parts of the business, which is why it’s so important to have a tried and true process in place so that you aren’t having to hunt your clients down for this information.

Instead, you want to make things easy for you AND for them!

As you’re reading this, you might feel a little overwhelmed by how much goes into setting up your social media management business for success in a way that’s seamless and not so time consuming.

If that’s you, I have some GOOD NEWS. 🎉

There is a way you can have agency style resources in your social media management business so that all parts of your process, from discovery to contract signing, is cohesive and consistent every single time.
